A Warning and a Request

As a Senior Wealth Advisor with over 30 years under my belt, I thought I had it all figured out. But I recently learned a tough lesson I won’t forget anytime soon—and it’s one that I think every entrepreneur needs to hear.

We lost a client I’d worked with for 34 years. He had become a friend, and yet, he decided to leave Steward Group for someone younger. The problem wasn’t that my team wasn’t capable — quite the opposite. The problem was that I hadn’t given my team the opportunity to step in, learn about him, and build the relationship.

I held on to too much control. I was afraid to let go, and in doing so, I missed the chance to show him that our next generation of advisors could provide the same level of care that I always have. It was a mistake that stung, and one I’ll never make again.

As entrepreneurs, we’re often guilty of trying to do everything ourselves. And for many of us in the first generation (G1), we understand the need to transition, but there’s a gap between understand and do.

Nobody can stick around forever, and we shouldn’t. If we want our businesses to continue thriving, we need to empower the people around us to step up and carry on our legacy.

Here at Steward Group, we have an incredible team ready to take the reins and serve our clients. They’re young, energetic, and just as committed to your success as I am (and they’ll probably be around for longer too because they have youth on their side!).

I’ll share more about how our team is rallying for your success in future posts, but for now, I encourage any longtime clients to stick around and let us prove that the #G2Stewcrew is ready and able to serve you with the same care and dedication.

I appreciate your business and, more importantly, our relationship, and look forward to what’s ahead.

Rob
